Our Family Puppies

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Should I spay or neuter my puppy?

A: We highly recommend spaying or neutering your puppy!!  However, we do believe that it is your personal decision on whether or not you want to do it.  The reason we recommend spaying or neutering is to reduce the number of unwanted puppies that end up in shelters or homeless.  Our goal is to offer happy, healthy puppies to responsible pet owners, not to add to the number of puppies without homes.

If you are not sure if you want to spay or neuter your pet, talk to your veterinarian and he/she can help you with your decision.  There are many pros to spaying and neutering, but there are a few cons that go with it as well.  Your vet can explain these in more detail.  One of the main reasons people choose not to spay/neuter is if they plan on using their puppy for breeding purposes.  Again, since you are going to be reasponsible for your puppy, the choice is yours, but please make the right choice and help keep those unwanted puppies from having to suffer in the end!  Also, Our Puppies are guaranteed as Pet/Companion only and not for breeding stock.

Q: Do you have a health guarantee and if so for how long?

A: Yes, we do have a health guarantee.  We guarantee our puppies up to 1 year of age.  We go into detail on this subject in our contract.  You can read more by clicking Sales Contract.  Remember, you must continue to take your puppy to the veterinarian to keep him up to date on all of his/her vaccinations as they get older.

Q: What type of puppy food do you feed?

A: We start the puppies out on a puppy food called I-Vet Puppy Formula that we get from our veterinarian.  As the puppies grow, we start offering them Diamond Premium Adult dog food.  Usually by the time they are ready to go to their new home, they have started to eat a little of the Diamond, but are still mostly eating the puppy food.

Q: Where are you located and how do I get my puppy?

A: We are located in the northeast corner of Missouri.  We are about 3 hours from Kansas City, MO and 3 hours from St. Louis, MO.  You can pick up your puppy in person or we can ship via airplane if need be.  Please click Shipping Information to read more.

Q: How do I know this is legitimate and you are not a scammer?

A: This is one of the hardest questions to answer.  We understand that there are so many scammers out there today and it is so hard to trust anyone anymore, so we have asked our previous puppy buyers to write testimonials telling about their experiences in getting a puppy from us.  You can read many of these testimonials on our Testimonial pages.  Not only do you have to trust us, that we are actually going to send you a puppy, the puppy you seen in the pictures, and that the puppy is in good health, but we also have to trust you.  We have to trust that you are going to give the puppy a wonderful home, keep routine vet visits to insure your puppy stays healthy, and make the best choices possible for the safety and well being of your puppy.  So trust has to go both ways and we want you to feel completely comfortable with us before making such an important decision!

Q: Have the puppies been started on potty, crate, or house training?

A: The age of the puppy depends on how much training they have before they leave.  All of the puppies get a good start on potty training by watching their mom go outside to go potty.  At 8 weeks old, it is still very difficult for the puppies to be able to "hold it" for a long period of time.  As the puppies get older, we will start them on crate training.  This also helps with potty training so they do not go potty all over the house.  We try to make the transition from our home to yours go as easily as possible, but depending on the breed and age, depends on how much training we can start before they leave.  Some breeds catch on alot easier and faster than others.

Q: Do you accept deposits?

A: Yes, we accept non-refundable deposits of $250 to hold the puppy of your choice.  Should an accident or incident occur and your puppy is no longer "sellable" or your puppy does not check out with our vet, then you will either get your deposit back or you can choose a different puppy.

Q: What are your different payment options?

A: We accept PayPal (please add 3% if using PayPal to cover fees), post office money orders, cashier's check, and if picking up in person, cash is preferred.

Q: Do you have any hypoallergenic breeds or suitable breeds for people with allergies?

A: Yes, we currently have a few different breeds that would make great pets for those who have allergies, but would still like to have the love and companionship of a puppy.  These breeds are:

Small:  Coton De Tulear, Havanese, Havaton, Schnoodle, Maltese and Yorkie

Medium: Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Coming soon!!:  Woodles

Large:  Coming soon!!:  Golden Doodles

Q:  Do you raise all of these puppies?

A:  No, I have a variety of family and friends that raise a few puppies and have asked me to help them advertise their puppies for them.  Since my goal is to find each and every puppy a wonderful home, others have asked me to do the same to help them find wonderful families for their puppies too!
